Story Card[]
1953. Pip-pip, cheerio and all that!
Here I am in West Sussex at Cowdray Park, standing beside the polo pitch (or "field", if you will), waiting for the Coronation Cup matches to start.
I brought along my polo duds just in case the Meadow Brook boys need a substitute to step in at the last minute. I used to play a mean chukker with Walt and Clark and Spence and all in the golden olden days at our club in Hollywood. Ah, what a thrill it was, galloping at full tilt, that little white ball getting closer and closer, a well-placed THWACK and it would go flying past No. 4 and into the goal... Then we were off to watch an Uplifter's Club "high goal" game.
Plus, dressing like this here at Cowdray Park couldn't hurt when it comes to starting up a conversation with one of the eager (and fair) attendees -- like my fair lady over there.
Ah, the match has started. Looks like the boys won't need my assistance after all. So now that leaves me free to keep my eyes peeled for royalty in attendance here at the Game of Kings (or is that the King of Games?).
But then again, I can just tell that THAT lovely young lady is waiting over by the stands for a handsome mallet man to knock her off her feet. Now, where the devil did I put my helmet...
